2005-07-11 - 12:13 p.m. What I'm listening to: Somebody to Love-Jefferson Airplane. Lately I've been exploring the bike trails in and around the city. I've been meaning to visit Jean-Drapeau Park for a while now, the former site of Expo 67. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but I did find it to be rather unsettling that the place where this event happened is being used for current events, instead of being more like a museum on an island. Expo was 'it'-it was the crowning event to mark Canada's 100th birthday, and Ile Ste Helene was the place where the party was to be held, where the whole world was invited. I've seen the Biosphere countless amounts of times in promotional photographs of Expo. But, I needed to see it with my own eyes: It was indeed a spiritual experience.
