2005-06-18 - 10:50 a.m. What I'm listening to: Dust My Broom-Elmore James. Interesting story: http://www.cbc.ca/story/science/national/2005/06/15/friends-aging050615.html One point of contention though: "Friends may contribute "social capital," by discouraging risky behaviour like smoking and drinking, while lifting our mood, self-esteem and coping ability, the researchers said." Discouraging risky behaviour??????? Smoking and drinking??????? Why else do you get together with friends???:) Good god I need a smoke.... If this article gets out of hand, I could see another 'Reefer Madness-esque' smoking and drinking prevention film coming out. Canada Council funded, no doubt. Lousy do-gooders....
