After a long absence I've decided to come out of hiding and be John Q. Public again. I enjoy silence and ambient noise more than I used to, hence the lack of the "what I'm listening to" header that I usually post.
I found out that the starting price for Patek Phillipe watches was CDN$800 in January 1972. Interesting tidbit of information that will likely grow into an article in the future. The salesperson at the watch store likely had really big sideburns, if he were male.
Many thoughts lately have been revolving around how Freud was writing at a certain time and place, about a certain time and place, and no doubt class. Then, I found the book to end all books: Freud and the Non-European by Edward W. Said. What an incredible find, even more so-the library has it! Being a geek becomes more and more fun every day, especially with my recent obsession with shirts that have breast pockets. You can put so much in there-lighters, cell phones, etc. But, I will never, repeat, never put a pen or calculator in there. Never.
Roxy Music "Avalon" is slowly turning into one of my desert island discs. I still like "More than This", and do enjoy repeated playings. It reminds me of Cambridge. Received an email from the lovely lady a few days ago. Email flirting is highly underrated.
Still glad that I didn't take any photographs on that day. The memories can continuously idealize themselves, over and over again....
