2005-05-11 - 11:25 a.m. What I'm listening to: Hijackin' Love-Johnny Taylor. In Islamic philosophy it is believed by humans that there is a dialectic between the will of God and the free agency of humans. Meaning that, God has his own agenda, but humans also have the power to choose and make decisions, in congruence or contrary to divine will. But on the other hand, at the end of the day, it is also believed by some schools of thought that everything happens for a reason-point, God. The fucked up experience that I had at the conference has proven to be valuable, as time goes on. For my thesis project, it reminded me, albeit harshly, that there are many narratives at play when discussing the Independence of British India. The danger of a personal story lies in that one can get emotionally involved with only one side of the story. But, while keeping this personal story in mind, it is also important I think to step back from time to time to consider the bigger picture, and one's personal role within those narrative events of the past. Still no word on the apartment hunt. If I don't hear from the stellar apartment by tomorrow, I'll give them a call to see what's up. Regarding the lovely lady that I had dinner with on Sunday night, and who also came for brunch on Monday, no word as yet. When she was leaving in a group, I asked her what her schedule was like this week, and I got a 'busy' reply. But, we did flirt during dinner and mutually hinted that there will be other times. This needs time to brew. I'll give her a shout next week to see what's up. I believe in letting go and giving space, but I don't want to let this one get away...
