What I'm listening to: Because of You-Louis Armstrong
Haven't heard this one in a while. I was introduced to it by one of my uncles, who gave me a collection of 78 records, including Desi Arnaz, The Ames Brothers, etc. Louis Armstrong, I can safely say, is my favourite male jazz vocalist. The female prize of course goes to Sarah Vaughan.
I slept for about 12 hours last night. After dinner, I went to bed to nap and was woken up at around 10pm by the phone. A bunch of us will be seeing a movie this afternoon, Kung Fu Hustle. I'm hoping that it's as tacky as the title suggests-a group of martial arts masters disco dancing. I could only be so lucky....
Then went back to sleep and just woke up. Don't remember much from the dreams. The images may surface as the day unfolds.
Yesterday as I was walking to and from the park to feed the birds and squirrels, I noticed a great many 'for rent' signs. I guess the housing crisis isn't as bad as I've heard. I'm heading to Ottawa tonight for a few days, and I'll look hardcore for a hardcore apartment next week. I guess after May 1st the July leases will become more prevalent.
I still feel like I'm on holiday, and this is a real holiday. I look outside at the highrises, and the grey background, and think that all I need right now is to be at a hotel, like the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, and in my still slumbered state, stroll out of my hotel room, wander over to the beach, and continue to snooze, feeling the morning sun on my cheeks (the upper ones.....pervert).
