2005-04-28 - 10:56 a.m. What I'm listening to: the sound of the tv, MASH season 7, "Out of Gas". This is a good one. They run out of anesthetic so they have to use ether. Margaret faints and Hawkeye freaks out of concern. As the show progresses, I love the chemistry that develops between Hawkeye and Margaret. They fought like anything at the beginning of the series, then became best of friends. I guess fighting is a form of loving, but a form that I have never participated in, nor understood. On the last episode, titled "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen", they kiss before parting company. Up to 1983, that was the longest kiss in television history. Not sure if that record has changed. Ahh, my Cambridge lighter. My only material souvenier. I wonder where she is right now, what she's doing. I honestly don't expect to hear from her ever again. Nothing personal, but I have had many such encounters before. You meet somebody while travelling, click instantly, talk for a few hours, and then they disapear, but are never forgotten. The Cambridge experience reminded me that I can still fall in love, can still feel like I'm 17 again, and can still share and let myself go with reckless abandon.
