2005-03-26 - 11:21 p.m. What I'm listening to: Night Fever-The Bee Gees. So I've toyed with the idea of gifting myself something as I move up the echelons of the academic ladder. I've decided that after I finish the MA, I'll buy myself an accessory that I've always wanted: a silver pocket watch with roman numerals, preferably Swiss, like an Omega. Rolex is too cliche, and I'm not sure if they make pocket watches. I know Omega used to, and I'd prefer something vintage anyway. Now for the PhD, that's another story. Something else I would really like to have: a 1959 Mercedes 190sl convertible, silver with a red interior. It has such a gorgeous clock. I'd by a car based on the clock. If it's designed well, by itself as well as in consideration with the rest of the dashboard layout, it brings the entire car together for some really sweet eye candy. I really like the Mercedes 300sl (Trudeau's car), but realistcally I won't be able to afford that. I really like Bentleys but maybe I'll pick one of those up much much later, after I've built up some serious equity. Used of course. On a study break I was cruising Ebay motors, and realized that used Ferraris aren't that expensive, in relation to other cars. I'd steer clear from the 308 (Magnum PI), too cliche, and I never liked the look of the Testarossa. But the 348 just may be possible. I don't usually like red for cars, but Ferrari is the exception. Never liked Lamborghini either. It's just a street legal racing car, but a Ferrari on the other hand, has class. Besides, most of them came with their own dedicated tool kit, custom fitted colour coordinated leather luggage, and umbrella. I've resigned to the fact that I have expensive taste. Oh well.
